Keep going, you can't give up now!

There will be times throughout our lives when we face challenges and uncertainty. It’s during these times that we can call upon the resources that are inside each of us and we can choose to step into our power and “keep going”. Written by Ollie Coach, Avril Annett

Keep Going

We’ve all heard the expression “keep going, you can’t give up now”

I heard that very expression a few years ago when all I wanted to do at the time was give up and tell myself that I wasn’t good enough.

I found myself literally thrown into the role of advocating for a family member; with no real knowledge, at that time, of what being an advocate entailed.

There were times when I really struggled with the responsibility that had landed firmly in my lap.

I questioned my abilities, would I be able to help, was I good enough, was I the right person, would I do a good job ?

At times I felt alone and isolated and indeed resentful that I had been left to do this.

Part of me wanted to give up, to run away and to let someone else deal with it.

But, I didn’t give up, I didn’t run away, I kept going because I knew it was the right thing to do.

It wasn’t easy to continue but it was worth it. The times that I began to doubt my abilities, when those worries and fears got too big, I recognised them and called on the power I knew was inside me – my strength and determination.

Now when people ask, “but how do I keep going?” my answer is always the same; dig deep and find that part of you, that inner strength and determination, take back control.

It’s a reality that there will be times throughout our lives when we face challenges and uncertainty. It’s during these times that we can call upon the resources that are inside each of us and we can choose to step into our power and “keep going”.
